There are moments in life, after which sometimes they give up. Like it was with Josh returning from the war. After which his life seemed over to him as a result of psychological post-traumatic stress.
Josh did not know how to live on, he was not let go of his experiences in the war, and there was no one to support him since he was alone in this world.
And one night the guy decided to take his own life. Finally deciding to smoke the last cigarette in his life, for which he went out onto the porch.
It was raining in the impenetrable darkness of the night, and it seemed to the guy that this very horror of life was approaching him from all sides with its black wall…. Suddenly a small tousled woolen ball darted under his feet!
It was a wet and chilled kitten that pressed against Josh’s leg as if begging him not to leave. Josh bent down and stroked the kitten and realized that he had never seen him here before.
This is how two loneliness met: a kitten, desperate for warmth, and a desperate man.
Josh thought that this black and white wet, barely living creature was sent to him to save it and to save himself and that only this kitten knows how to cope with the mental burden of a person.
“It occurred to me that since I can take care of this creature, then there will be someone for me who wants to help me too. This means that there is a place for hope! ” – Josh said later. He took the kitten home and named him Scout.
But one day he returned from work and found that Scout had disappeared. The guy was looking everywhere for the cat, called him – but it was all in vain. So another non-healing wound appeared on his soul.
It was difficult to predict the further development of Josh’s fate, but, fortunately, he soon met a girl named Becky, who managed to fill his spiritual emptiness.
Young people somehow learned that in one of the nearby animal shelters an open day is being held for the accommodation of the inhabitants contained in it. Josh and Becky decided to give one of the residents of the shelter a house.
“We were walking along with the cages with cats when suddenly a paw came out of one cage and hit me on the left hand,” Josh said later with tears in his eyes.
“I turned my head and saw my Scout, that once saved my life! I grabbed him in my arms with a desire to never let go … “
