But one man noticed him immediately.

Artem said nothing.
His calmness only made Bull even angrier.
â Do you really think anyone’s going to protect you in here? Bull continued, poking him in the chest with his finger. â I make the rules around here.
By now, almost the entire yard was watching. Some expected a fight, while others simply wanted some entertainment.
But there was something strange.
Despite the insults and humiliation, Artem didn’t even try to defend himself. He looked at his tormentor with such calm that it seemed as though he wasn’t facing the most dangerous man in the prison, but an ordinary passerby.
That only irritated everyone even more.
Bull was just about to humiliate the newcomer in front of the entire crowd when something happened at the far end of the yard that made several inmates suddenly turn around.
First came voices filled with surprise.
Then someone swore loudly.
A few seconds later, the expressions on everyone’s faces changed in an instant.

The noise in the yard suddenly disappeared as the gates opened and the prison warden entered with several guards.
But it wasn’t them who caught the inmates’ attention.
Walking beside them was a man everyone had heard about, but almost no one had ever seen in person.
His name was Shah.
People said he was the true ruler of the prison. While everyone else lived in ordinary cells, Shah stayed in a special wing, rarely appeared in public, and preferred to remain in the shadows. Even the most dangerous prisoners spoke his name only in whispers.
When Shah stepped into the yard, many inmates turned pale.
Even Bull fell silent immediately.
The warden exchanged a few words with the guards before leaving. Then Shah walked straight toward Artem.
The yard became so quiet that the only sound was the wind howling.
Stopping in front of the newcomer, Shah looked carefully at him and suddenly smiled.
â At last, we’ve found you, Artem.
The crowd froze.
â Many years ago, you pulled my daughter out of a car after a terrible accident. The doctors later said that without you, she wouldn’t have survived. I’ve spent years looking for a chance to thank you, and only recently did I learn that you had ended up here.
Artem stared at him in astonishment.
â I’ll do everything in my power to make sure you don’t stay here much longer, Shah said firmly.
Then he slowly turned toward Bull.
Just minutes earlier, Bull had acted like he owned the yard. Now he didn’t even dare raise his eyes.
â You made a terrible mistake, Shah said coldly. â You chose to humiliate a man who means as much to me as family. Remember my words: from this day forward, you’ll regret what you did every single day.
A whisper spread through the crowd.
Everyone understood that this wasn’t a threat.
It was a sentence.
Bull stood there pale and shaken. For the first time in years, he no longer looked like the prison’s most feared authority, but like a man who had finally realized he had challenged the wrong person.
Artem remained silent.
He didn’t have to prove anything to anyone.
Sometimes, just a few minutes are enough for the man everyone believed was the strongest to lose all his power, while the one everyone thought was weak earns the respect of the entire prison.
