Throughout all nine months of my pregnancy, my millionaire husband skipped my doctor’s appointments to be with his mistress, so when it was finally time to give birth, I even had to take a taxi to the hospital alone. But three hours later, he stormed into the hospital with six bodyguards and flew into a rage when he learned that I had forbidden the staff from letting him see me. Soon afterward, something happened that made him beg me for the first time in his life… 😨
My name is Emma. I’m 30 years old, and my husband, Victor, is one of the most powerful and dangerous men in the city. He had money, bodyguards, expensive cars, and connections that made him accustomed to getting everything he wanted.
When I told him I was pregnant, he hugged me and promised:
“You and our baby will never have to go without anything.”
But very soon, I realized that money replaced everything for him, even love.
He missed my first ultrasound because of work. He missed the second one, too. And when the doctor discovered possible complications during my seventh month of pregnancy and asked me to undergo additional tests, I called my husband in tears.
“Victor, please come. I’m scared.”
“Emma, I have an important meeting. Stop making a drama out of everything!”
Two hours later, I saw photos of him leaving a restaurant with a young woman named Laura. She was his mistress.
That evening, I showed him the pictures.
“You left me alone at the hospital for her?”
“Laura needed my help,” he replied calmly.
“What about me? I’m carrying your child!”
“I provide you with everything. What more could you possibly need?”
That evening, I realized that I no longer wanted to ask him for anything.
A week before my due date, I met with a lawyer and prepared the divorce papers. I also informed the hospital staff in advance that my husband was not allowed to be present during my delivery.
Four days later, my water broke. Victor was with Laura again, so I called a taxi.
Three hours later, as my contractions grew stronger, I heard his furious voice outside the door.
“Where is my wife?! Let me in immediately!”
“Your wife has forbidden us from letting you in,” the nurse replied.
“I could buy this entire hospital tomorrow!”
Just then, my mother appeared in the corridor. She walked up to Victor and handed him the divorce papers.
But that wasn’t all.
My mother said a few words to him, and suddenly he fell silent, turned pale, and rushed toward the door of my hospital room.
“Emma! Please open the door! I have to tell you something!”
When I heard his voice, I gripped the nurse’s hand even tighter. I had no idea what truth he was about to reveal…

“Emma, please! I know I’m guilty! Just hear me out!” Victor shouted from behind the door.
I wanted to ask the nurse to have him removed, but then I heard my mother’s voice.
“Tell her the truth, Victor. Or I’ll tell her myself.”
The corridor fell silent.
“Emma, Laura is pregnant,” my husband finally said. “She told me yesterday.”
My hands turned ice-cold. I was lying in a hospital bed, preparing to give birth to our child, while my husband was telling me that his mistress was expecting a baby, too.
“And you came here to tell me this now?” I asked through my tears.
“No! I came because I realized I was losing you. Today, I told Laura that things were over between us.”
My mother couldn’t hold back any longer.
“Don’t lie, at least not now! He only came here after I called and told him that Emma had filed for divorce. Before that, he didn’t even know she was in labor!”
I closed my eyes. Everything was clear now.
“Victor, leave. Right now, I need a doctor, not your excuses.”
He kept begging to be let in for a long time, but the hospital security guards escorted him out of the ward.
A few hours later, my daughter was born. When they placed her on my chest, I burst into tears. She was healthy, with dark hair and tiny fingers that wrapped tightly around my hand.
I named her Mia.
The next day, Victor returned to the hospital. This time, he came without bodyguards, carrying flowers and baby supplies.
“I want to see my daughter,” he asked my mother.
“Emma wanted you by her side for all nine months,” she replied. “But you didn’t care.”
After I was discharged, I moved in with my mother with my daughter. Victor called, came to visit, and promised to change. But I no longer believed his promises.
Two months later, our divorce was finalized. We agreed on child support and visitation arrangements. I wasn’t going to deprive Mia of her father, but I also had no intention of returning to a man who had betrayed me during the most difficult moment of my life.
One day, Victor came to visit his daughter and saw her smile at me for the very first time.
He watched us for a long time before quietly saying:
“I’ve missed so much…”
“Yes, Victor,” I replied. “And no amount of money can ever bring it back.”
For the first time, he had nothing to say.
I looked at Mia and realized that I used to be afraid of ending up without a husband. But now I had a daughter, a peaceful home, and a life in which I no longer had to beg for love.
