The mafia boss merely smiled mockingly and threw several bags of fish entrails into the water. Within minutes, the first dark silhouettes appeared beneath the raft.
The sharks moved slowly and confidently, as if they had long known their prey would not escape.
The yacht began to pull away, leaving him alone in the endless ocean. Mark started screaming and begging from the drifting boat:

Mark stared after it for a long time until the white hull disappeared over the horizon.
Only then did he allow himself to close his eyes. His heart was beating so hard it felt like it could be heard even underwater.

The water around the raft suddenly turned dark red. At first Mark thought he was more seriously injured than he realized, but he quickly understood: the blood was not his.
At the last moment, a long horn sounded over the ocean. A small fishing boat returning from night fishing noticed the strange patch in the water and the bright life raft. At first, the fishermen thought they were too late.
— Faster! He’s still alive! — the captain shouted.
While two men distracted the sharks with engine noise and heavy ropes, the third dared to jump into the water and swim to the raft. Mark was barely responsive anymore. His lips were blue, his gaze heavy, but when the knife cut through the ropes around his hands, he whispered faintly:

The fishermen pulled him aboard literally seconds before one of the sharks struck the now-empty raft. The impact was so strong that the rubber edge burst, and the raft immediately began to sink.
