A millionaire returned home earlier than expected and found the young housekeeper beside his seriously ill mother’s wheelchair

A millionaire returned home earlier than expected and found the young housekeeper beside his seriously ill mother’s wheelchair. The girl was crying as she shaved off the last of her mother’s hair. He demanded an explanation, but his mother suddenly said, “She didn’t come here for a job. You have no idea what your father did to her family.” When the millionaire learned the truth, his knees nearly gave way… 😨

Edward’s mother had been battling cancer for eight months. He had hired the best doctors and caregivers, but because of his work, he was rarely able to be by her side.

That day, Edward came home unexpectedly and heard sobbing coming from his mother’s bedroom.

When he opened the door, he saw the young housekeeper, Alice. The girl was kneeling in front of his mother, holding an electric hair clipper.

“What is going on here?!” Edward demanded angrily.

Alice switched off the clipper in fright.

“I’m sorry, Mr. Edward. Your mother asked me to do it herself…”

“Son, stop!” his mother interrupted. “Alice is helping me. I don’t want to keep watching my hair fall out.”

Edward fell silent. The girl gently finished shaving her mother’s head, wiped the woman’s tears, and hugged her.

The millionaire was surprised by the tenderness with which his mother looked at the housekeeper.

“Why have you grown so attached to her?” he asked.

His mother let out a heavy sigh.

“Because I know who she is. And you need to know, too.”

Alice suddenly turned pale.

“Please, don’t do this!” she whispered.

But the woman continued:

“Your father destroyed her family’s life many years ago. And I knew about it, but I kept silent.”

Edward couldn’t believe his ears.

“What are you talking about? Dad died fifteen years ago!”

His mother asked Alice to take an old photograph out of the drawer.

In the picture, Edward saw his father standing beside an unfamiliar young woman holding a baby.

“Look at what’s written on the back,” his mother said.

He turned the photograph over, read a few words, and felt his hands turn ice-cold.

Alice began crying even harder.

Then his mother said something that would forever change Edward’s view of his father and his own family… 😨😱

On the back of the photograph were the words: “My daughter Alice. Forgive me for everything.”

Edward read the words several times, then looked at the housekeeper.

“Does that mean she’s my sister?”

His mother lowered her head.

“Yes, son. Your father hid the fact that he had a second family from us for many years.”

Alice burst into tears.

“My mother worked as your father’s secretary. When she became pregnant, he promised to marry her. But then he found out that his wife was expecting a child, too, and decided to stay with his family.”

Edward looked at his mother in confusion.

“You knew?”

“I found out shortly before he died. He confessed that he had a daughter, but he begged me not to tell anyone.”

“What happened to Alice’s mother?”

The girl wiped away her tears.

“He fired her and forbade her from coming anywhere near your house. My mother raised me alone. We often didn’t have enough to eat, and when she became ill, we couldn’t afford her treatment.”

Edward slowly sat down.

“Why did you choose to work here of all places?”

“I wanted to see the man who had caused my mother so much suffering. But your father was already dead. Then I met your mother.”

The woman reached out her hand to Alice.

“She told me her story. I immediately understood who she was. At first, it was difficult for me to look at her, but later I saw how kind she was. When I became unwell after treatment, Alice was the one who stayed by my side all night.”

Edward remained silent. All his life, he had believed his father was an honest man and had tried to be like him.

“Why didn’t you tell me earlier?” he asked his mother.

“I was afraid of destroying the memory you had of your father. But now I realize I was wrong.”

Edward turned to Alice.

“You won’t be working here as a housekeeper anymore.”

The girl stood up in fright.

“Are you firing me?”

“No. I want you to stay here as a member of the family. If that’s what you want, of course.”

Alice didn’t know what to say at first.

“I don’t need your money. I just wanted to know the truth.”

“Then let’s at least try to get to know each other,” Edward said quietly.

Over the following months, Edward began spending more time at home. Together with Alice, he cared for his mother, took her to her treatments, and, for the first time in many years, put work aside to focus on his family.

Unfortunately, the illness proved stronger. Before she died, his mother took both of them by the hand and pleaded:

“Just don’t lose each other. None of this is your fault.”

After the funeral, Alice decided to leave, but Edward stopped her.

“I’ve already lost my mother. I don’t want to lose my sister, too.”

The girl hugged him and called him her brother for the first time.

And so, the millionaire who had everything except time for his loved ones gained a sister whose existence he had never even suspected.

And Alice finally received what she had been missing her entire life—a real family.
