On the morning of my wedding, I accidentally overheard my fiancée talking on the phone to another man: “I never loved him. I only want his money.” But the worst was yet to come: she admitted that our little son, whom I had raised since birth, might not even be my biological child. I called off the wedding and decided to find out the truth, but I could never have imagined how everything would end… 😨
That day, I woke up before everyone else. In just a few hours, Kristina and I were supposed to get married. We had been together for five years, and eleven months earlier, our son Daniel had been born.
I adored the little boy. After his birth, I started working less so I could spend more time at home. Even at night, I got up myself to take care of him so Kristina could get some rest.
While I was tying my tie, our nanny, Marta, appeared at the doorway. Daniel was asleep in her arms.
“Javier, could you come here for a moment?” she asked quietly.
I stepped into the hallway. Marta put a finger to her lips and pointed toward the half-open bedroom door.
Kristina’s voice came from inside.
“Just be patient a little longer, darling. After the wedding, everything will be easier. Javier is always working. He won’t notice anything.”
I froze.
“No, I don’t love him,” she continued. “But he has money. Daniel and I will be financially secure for the rest of our lives.”
I was about to walk into the room, but her next sentence stopped me in my tracks.
“And the baby? I told you I don’t know whose child he is. Yours or Javier’s. But what difference does it make now? Javier thinks he’s his son.”
I looked at the sleeping little boy. Just that morning, I had been dreaming about our wedding, and now I could barely stand.
When Kristina finished the call, I silently walked into my study. A few minutes later, I announced that the wedding was off.
At first, Kristina burst out laughing, convinced I was joking. But when I repeated her own words, she turned pale.
“You’ve got everything wrong!” she shouted.
“Then explain why you don’t know who Daniel’s father is.”
She said nothing.
I demanded a paternity test. Suddenly, Kristina stopped crying and said:
“Fine. Just don’t regret your decision later.”
I had no idea what she meant.
A few days later, the test results arrived. Kristina stood beside me as I opened the envelope. I read the first line, then the second. My hands began to tremble.
But when Kristina saw my expression, her confident smile disappeared. The results revealed something completely different from what either of us had expected… 😨

The conclusion of the report read: “Probability of paternity — 99.99%.”
Daniel was my son.
I read the result several times before looking at Kristina. She was pale and didn’t know what to say.
“So you didn’t even know who the father of your child was?” I asked.
“Javier, please forgive me,” she whispered. “I made a mistake. But now you know Daniel is your son. Let’s forget everything and get married.”
I couldn’t believe she was serious.
“You were planning to marry me for my money while continuing to see another man. And now you’re suggesting that we simply forget everything?”
Kristina burst into tears. She insisted that she loved me and had been afraid of losing her family. But I had already heard what she said when she thought nobody was listening.
“There will be no wedding,” I replied. “But I will never abandon Daniel.”
That same evening, Kristina packed her things and moved in with her mother. We agreed that our son would stay with me for the time being and that she could visit him.
A few weeks later, I contacted a lawyer to officially settle the custody arrangements. I didn’t want revenge against Kristina, nor did I want to deprive the child of his mother. All that mattered to me was that Daniel could grow up peacefully without suffering because of the mistakes we adults had made.
Marta continued helping me care for the little boy.
One evening, I was sitting on the floor, building a toy pyramid with my son. Suddenly, Daniel stood up, grabbed my shirt, and clearly said for the first time:
“Daddy!”
I hugged him tightly and couldn’t hold back my tears.
At that moment, I understood one simple truth.
The test results had confirmed that Daniel was my biological son. But I had become his father long before that — when I first held him in my arms, when I spent sleepless nights taking care of him, and when I celebrated every little milestone he reached.
Kristina had destroyed our relationship. But she had never managed to take away the most precious thing in my life.
