Most recently, within the boundaries of Oslo, Norway, photographer Mads Nordsveen during one of his hiking trips through the winter forest met a real treasure on his way – a very rare and white, like snow, deer!
Luckily, Nordsveen took his camera with him as usual, and now we also have the opportunity to see this miracle with our own eyes.
Meet this perfect creation of nature. Mads says: “I was walking in the mountains in search of a suitable background for my photos when I suddenly came across this baby.”
The deer was so white that it almost blended into the surrounding winter landscape. The photographer notes that the animal was not at all afraid of meeting a person and even posed for these close-up shots.
“The fawn came very close to me, and we looked each other straight in the eye.”
A few minutes later, the mother of the deer came out of the thicket, and the baby, having been with Mads a little more, went to her.
“This meeting was like an episode from a fairy tale,” recalls the photographer.
White reindeer carry a rare mutation that causes them to lose their pigment, allowing the animal to completely blend into the snow.
But, unlike albinos, these deer still retain pigmentation around the eyes and on the horns.
In the art of disguise, they have no equal! A real handsome man! This is not the first time Mads Nordsveen has encountered rare animals in their natural habitat.
