The skin on my grandmother’s legs was becoming increasingly dry and cracked

😱 The skin on my grandmother’s legs was becoming increasingly dry and cracked. I was horrified when I heard the doctor’s diagnosis and realized that we had avoided the worst by seeking help in time.

In summer, during hot weather, when my grandmother stopped wearing socks, I began to notice that each day the skin on her legs looked drier and started cracking. 🤔

When I tried to draw her attention to this, she just waved it off and calmly said it was probably age-related changes or that the skin was simply drying out because of the heat.

😲 I took her to a care center where she underwent special procedures to moisturize and restore her skin. But in the following days, the situation remained the same.

Then, at my insistence, we went to the doctor — and what we found out shocked me. 😵 I am immensely grateful that we did not ignore these warning signs and went to the specialist in time.

Here is what the doctor told us… Continued in the link in the first comment 👇👇

We were stunned when the doctor explained that the dryness and cracks on my grandmother’s legs were not just age-related changes, but a possible sign of diabetic foot.

With diabetes mellitus, blood circulation is often impaired and sensitivity in the lower limbs is reduced.

This means a person may not notice minor injuries, and the skin becomes dry due to impaired sweat and sebaceous gland function.

Such cracks are open doors for bacteria, and even minor damage can turn into a serious infection.

The doctor explained that without timely treatment, such conditions can lead to ulcers, inflammations, and even amputation.

We understood how important it is to examine the feet daily, moisturize the skin, especially heels and soles, but avoid the areas between the toes.

He also advised wearing comfortable, closed shoes and regularly checking with specialists.

I still can’t believe that a “small thing” like dry skin could be a sign of a serious problem.

Good thing we reacted in time — maybe it saved my grandmother from serious consequences.
