I was feeding my herd when I suddenly noticed a strange detail: several calves were persistently licking the same spot on the old brick wall inside the barn.
At first I thought they simply lacked minerals — that sometimes happens with cattle.
To solve the problem, I placed several mineral blocks nearby. But the calves did not even touch them. They stubbornly returned to that very wall and kept licking the bricks again.
And that was when I truly began to feel uneasy. I kept catching myself thinking about that wall.
Why exactly that spot? Why do they ignore normal mineral supplements? The more I observed, the stronger a disturbing feeling grew inside me, as if there was clearly something wrong with that wall.
I carefully washed that spot with bleach, hoping the sharp smell would make the animals abandon the strange habit. But a few hours later the calves returned… and continued doing the same thing, as if something irresistibly pulled them there.
When the adult cows joined them, I became seriously worried. What if a dangerous mold was hidden in the masonry? Determined to find out, I took a heavy sledgehammer and began smashing the wall.
