😱 In the yard I found something strange. When I realized what it was, I was stunned…
I had decided to tidy up the yard, dig the garden beds, remove the old weeds. It seemed like an ordinary day and routine work. But suddenly, the shovel hit something hard, and a dull crunch was heard. 😨
My heart skipped a beat. First thought — there might be a small animal underground. Carefully pulling out the shovel, I cleared the soil with my hands.
😵 And then a strange sight appeared before my eyes: dozens of thin, shiny “needles” were sticking out of the soil. They were transparent, cold to the touch, as if made of ice. But how was that possible? Outside it was warm, with no sign of frost.
I carefully extracted several “needles” and noticed that they seemed to grow directly from the ground — the sharp tips were clearly visible, and it seemed like anything could be hidden there. 🧐
Curiosity took over: I photographed the discovery and posted the picture online. The answers came instantly, and when I learned what kind of “treasure” I had unearthed, I was truly shocked…

I carefully extracted several “needles” and noticed that they seemed to grow directly from the ground, and at the slightest touch they began to melt.
Later I found out that I had witnessed a rare natural phenomenon, which people call “frost needles” or “ice hair.”
They form when moist soil begins to freeze from the bottom up, and tiny ice crystals are pushed to the surface, creating curious icy structures.
This happens under specific conditions — with slight frost, high humidity, and a special soil composition.
It might seem like an ordinary yard and ordinary soil… but sometimes nature can show such wonders that even the most skeptical begin to believe in magic.
