The story of Jessica the hippo spread around the world, over 150 documentaries were shot on it.
It all started in South Africa, 18 years ago. A wave of floods swept across the country. On the bank of one of the rivers lay a baby hippopotamus.
He was found by a local resident, Tony Joubert. The man never saw the mother of the baby, so he decided to take the baby with him: she would not have survived in the wild.
The baby, that turned out to be a girl, was named Jessica. The baby grew and eventually became a strong and healthy animal.
Tony decided to let her go to the river where he once found the animal. However, Jessica is so attached to people that every time she walks up, she returns to her house.
The habits of the hippo are also “human”: she loves tea drinking and watching TV. Yes, surrounded by humans, she learned to understand them and have similar tastes in life.
Now Jessica lives in freedom, but every day she comes to visit her savior. Her love for Tony is unending.
