Nima and Dawa were only 14 months old when they were transported from Bhutan to Melbourne for a life-saving operation at the Royal Children’s Hospital in 2018.

Their mother, Bhumchu Zangmo, said the girls are now healthy and attend second grade in Bhutan.

“They are growing very well and are already very independent,” their mother says.

For their birthday, which they usually celebrate with friends with a small party and cake, the girls decided this time to spend the day differently — by visiting a local temple and feeding elderly people.
