Almost every nation or country has its own version of the fall harvest festival. With the fields cleared, the warehouses full, the farming work done, it’s time to celebrate the end of the season by filling our bellies with fresh produce.
In the US, it’s Thanksgiving, which was celebrated on a grand scale at the New York Animal Shelter this year!
Rob and Hillary Dunn, on their own initiative, prepared 80 separate portions for the animals of the shelter.
Not that they are poorly fed there, but after all, a festive dinner is something completely different!
The plates contained only the most useful and tasty dishes, no fast food, home cooking. First, boiled turkey, white meat without fat. Second, fresh green beans.
Thirdly, pumpkin puree, because in the USA the bright pumpkin is the main symbol of the harvest festival. More precisely, the pumpkin is a common symbol, and specifically for Thanksgiving, a turkey is baked or fried.
But these are people, and animals do not need unhealthy fried food, so this is the right lunch.
The Dunn family’s initiative has sparked a storm of enthusiasm on social media. It’s not a matter of food, although it’s very important for someone who cannot find food on their own. It’s about the very fact of caring for animals that deserve it!
