At first, the guests thought the homeless boy had simply come to beg.
That’s why no one paid attention when he walked onto the terrace. Thin, in worn-out clothes, barefoot, he dragged a dirty sack behind him, with empty cans softly clinking inside. In places like this, people try not to look at those like him.

“Your daughter can see!”

The man didn’t immediately understand what was happening.
He looked at the boy as if he had heard something impossible. Next to him sat his daughter in a blue dress, wearing dark glasses, with a crutch resting on her knees — an image everyone had long grown used to.
Not far away, his wife in yellow stopped abruptly.
The boy threw the sack onto the ground, quickly rummaged through it, and pulled out something small.

The woman turned pale.
She took a step back, as if hoping to disappear from that moment, but it was already too late. The man slowly shifted his gaze from the vial to her. There was no doubt left in his eyes — only a cold, heavy understanding.
“What is this?” he asked quietly, but in that silence, his voice sounded louder than a scream.
The woman tried to say something, but the words got stuck in her throat. Her hands were trembling.
The boy took a step forward and said calmly:
“She was adding it to the juice. I saw it.”
A murmur spread across the terrace.
The man tightened his grip on the vial. His daughter slightly turned her head toward him, as if trying to catch every movement. And in that moment, he understood what he had feared the most.
It wasn’t a treatment.
It was a slow taking away of her sight.
“Why?..” His voice trembled.
The woman covered her face with her hands and said quietly:
“I was afraid… that you would leave… if she became normal…”
Those words sounded more terrifying than any confession.
The silence became unbearable.
The man took a step back, as if a stranger was already standing in front of him. Then he suddenly turned to his daughter, knelt in front of her, and gently took her hands.
