Transforming an Old Parasol and Concrete into an Elegant Garden Accent
Before disposing of a worn-out parasol, reconsider! 😏👌 With a dash of ingenuity, you can turn this seemingly obsolete item into a distinctive and practical outdoor embellishment that enhances your garden’s appeal. 🏡🏞️ This handcrafted piece will bring a fresh charm to your backyard! 🤩👐 In this tutorial, I’ll guide you through each stage of the process! 👇
Breathing New Life into a Discarded Parasol
Choose an ideal location in your yard where you can comfortably work. A level surface is preferable to guarantee stability for your creation.
Start by compressing moist sand to construct a solid base. Detach the parasol handle and position the canopy upside down—this will act as the foundation for your innovative project.
Constructing the Framework
Blend cement with water until you achieve a smooth, fluid consistency—omit the sand at this point! Evenly distribute this mixture over the upturned parasol and let it start to harden.
Once the first coating is firm, bore a hole in the middle of the canopy and insert a PVC tube. This will provide essential reinforcement to the structure.
For added resilience, place a wire mesh over the surface of the parasol to help prevent cracks.
Fortifying and Molding the Design
Now, combine cement with sand in a 1:2 proportion to create a denser mix. Spread this blend over the wire mesh, smoothing it out before allowing it to dry for approximately 24 hours.
While waiting, prepare the base. Position the PVC pipe inside a lubricated plastic bowl and pour the same cement-sand mixture into it. To enhance durability further, incorporate fragments of bricks or metallic elements within the composition.
Merging the Garden Feature
Once both the parasol and base have thoroughly dried, gently extract them from their molds. Use a cement adhesive to firmly attach the parasol to its base. Allow the entire structure to set and cure completely.
Personalizing Your Creation
Now comes the exciting part—customization! Apply a base coat, then paint the structure in a hue that harmonizes with your garden’s ambiance. Once dry, finish it with a protective sealant to ensure longevity.
The Eye-Catching Final Product
Your repurposed parasol structure can now serve as a delightful planter—simply add soil and grow your favorite flowers! This exclusive, hand-designed garden piece will surely infuse character and elegance into your outdoor sanctuary.
