Recently, I stumbled upon a strange metal object in my parents’ kitchen š§. It was lying in a drawer alongside other utensils ā next to a whisk, a garlic press, and an old cheese knife š“. But this particular item stood out.
It was heavy, with a long handle, and on one end it had a metal āheadā with a funny little face: two eyes and a mouth šŗ. It even looked a bit like a cartoon cat. I was curious ā what on earth is this thing? š¤
I showed it to my friends, sent a photo to the family chat, but no one could give a clear answer š. Someone guessed it might be a barbecue tool š. Another thought maybe it was some kind of designer bottle opener. But those were just guesses.
So I decided to dig deeper… š

I posted the photo on a forum where people discuss unusual kitchen tools. A few hours later, someone replied: āThatās a corn stripper!ā ā and included a link to a similar product.
I was shocked! I never wouldāve guessed that thereās a special tool just for corn. Turns out, that āsmiley faceā is designed to neatly strip kernels off the cob with minimal waste.
Now that I know what itās for, it actually seems pretty useful. Funny how something that seemed mysterious turned out to be such a cleverly designed kitchen gadget.
So, if you ever come across that little āsmilingā metal gadget ā just know: itās here to help corn undress completely
