I was visiting a friend and saw this thing in his shed. 🧐 It’s a metal rod with a cork handle and a cavity at the end. The length is about 20 cm. There might be something inside, as the tip can be unscrewed. 🤔 At the bottom, there’s a small screw that releases the internal metal element. I was very surprised and thought it was some kind of antique item. 😵‍💫 Imagine my surprise when I found out what it actually was.👇

It turned out to be a detachable handle for a fishing rod! I had never seen anything like it before. My friend explained that these handles were used by fishermen who preferred to customize their gear.

The base of the rod could be changed depending on fishing conditions, but the comfortable cork handle remained the same. This allowed different rod blanks to be used without changing the grip and balance.

Additionally, the inner cavity of the handle was sometimes used to store small accessories: hooks, sinkers, or even a small lure.

This particular piece, according to my friend, belonged to his grandfather. He loved fishing and valued such things for their convenience and practicality.

I held this object in my hands, amazed at its simplicity yet ingenious design.

I would never have thought that an ordinary fishing rod could have a detachable handle! Now I’ll definitely pay more attention to old objects, as even a simple metal piece can hold an interesting story.

My friend told me that such handles are now rare but still popular among experienced fishermen.
