When I took a closer look, I was pleasantly surprised. Its legs and top were made of solid beechwood, and the doors had a high-quality beech veneer.
Despite its age and many signs of wear, I realized that this cupboard could once again become a beautiful piece.
First, I gave it a deep clean to remove the dust and dirt accumulated over the years.
Next, I treated the wood against potential insect damage to ensure its longevity. The original varnish was too damaged, so I took my sander to smooth the surfaces and carefully reattached the cracked veneer.
Every imperfection was filled with wood filler, preparing the cupboard for its new finish.
To highlight its vintage charm, I chose an oil-based wax for the legs and decorative elements, enhancing their natural hue.
For the body and doors, I opted for an acrylic paint with a patina effect, adding character and elegance. Two coats were enough to bring it back to life, followed by a protective varnish to ensure durability.
The result? A beautiful and functional cupboard that now stands proudly in our entryway. It now serves as a storage space for our tools and DIY materials.
Thanks to its compact dimensions, it fits perfectly into our interior, adding a warm, vintage touch.
What seemed like a simple old piece of furniture destined for disposal has become a true decorative gem. All thanks to a little passion, effort, and creativity.
