I discovered this nightstand by chance among the trash and decided to restore it: here’s the result I achieved.
One day, while walking, my eye was caught by an abandoned nightstand near the trash bins. 💖 It was in poor condition, but its vintage design piqued my curiosity. 🤔 I took it with the idea of giving it a second life. Three weeks later, this worn-out piece of furniture became an elegant and functional item that looks like it just came out of a store. 😍 Here’s how I transformed this little gem 👇👇👇
At first glance, I noticed that this nightstand had seen better days: chipped varnish, cracks in the finishes, and oil stains were all signs of its past.
However, I couldn’t resist the idea of bringing this unique piece of furniture back to life. After leaving it in my garage for almost a year, I decided to start its restoration.
The first step was to remove the glass doors, which seemed fragile and outdated. Then I thoroughly cleaned the surface, removing layers of old paint and wax. The task was lengthy, and several times I thought this nightstand was beyond repair.
However, its original pattern was so unique that I decided to preserve it by applying two coats of protective oil.
To reinforce the structure, I secured the back with discreet nails, then applied clear oil to protect the wood from future damage.
As for the doors, my first instinct was to paint them. But in the end, their antique look proved harmonious with the overall design.
Finally, I carefully chose matching handles, which gave the nightstand its finishing charm. Now it shines with a renewed glow and has found a special place in my home. 💖
