š²š²During our English lesson, my teacher suddenly announced to the entire class that no matter how hard I tried, I could never have written that test. She said it was ātoo smart to belong to meā and gave me a zero for cheating.
Everything had been calm until she decided to put on a show. She walked up to my desk, slammed my notebook down so loudly the whole class heard it, and said:
ā There is no way you wrote that test. Ever. Not even by accident.
Then she added, with a poisonous smile:
ā Iām giving you a zero. Want to complain? Sign up for the seminars⦠if they even take you.
The class burst into laughter. Their laughter hit harder than any slap. My throat tightened, my eyes burned, but I pulled out my phone ā the only thing keeping me from running out of the room.
ā Mom, come to the English classroom. Now, ā I whispered.
The teacher saw this and practically exploded:
ā Oh, thatās how it is! You think the principal will pat you on the head when she learns what kind of scam you tried to pull? I tried to be gentle, but clearly that doesnāt work on you. Call your mother ā and Iāll call the administration. Weāll see whoās right.
When the door opened and the principal walked in, the laughter stopped instantly. I stood with my head down, fighting tears, while my teacherās face changed completely ā she suddenly became sweet, pretending I was the worst student she had ever met.
The principal listened and then calmly said to me:
ā Youāll take the test again. Right now.
I nodded. But as soon as I began, the teacher hissed:
ā I suppose the principalās presence is enough for you? Or should we wait until your mother decides to grace us ordinary mortals with her presence?
I opened my mouth, but the principal silenced her with a gesture:
ā Quiet. Youāve said more than enough.
And then everything happened faster than I could blink.
ā The thing is, her mother…
šØšØšØAfter a few icy sentences from the principal, the teacher collapsed into her chair, pale with shock. She began mumbling, stuttering, making excuses, and the class⦠the class watched us with a silence Iād never heard within school walls.

The principal paused briefly, as if giving the class time to process what had happened, and said:
ā The thing is, her mother⦠has already arrived.
The students exchanged confused, nervous glances, as if trying to spot someone hiding between the desks. The teacher froze with a strained smile, expecting anyone to walk in⦠except the person standing right before her.
ā The parent is already here, ā the principal repeated. ā Because itās me.
A dead silence fell over the room. Someone gasped, someone just stood there, stunned. The teacher seemed to deflate as if the air had left her body.
ā I deliberately kept our relationship secret, ā the principal said. ā So no one would think she receives special treatment. My daughter uses a different last name.
She walked up to the desk:
ā Since the question of honesty has been raised so sharply, weāll check the test immediately.
A few minutes later, the result was obvious: flawless. Again.
The principal turned to the teacher, her voice steel-cold:
ā Now tell me. What disciplinary action do you think would be fair⦠for the school and for yourself?
