This particular video, shared online in 2023, showcases a freshly cut piece of beef twitching as salt is added. The disturbing footage has sparked intense reactions across social media platforms.

The Instagram account @conceptsjpg explained, “The sodium in the salt activates still-functioning nerve endings in the meat, triggering muscle contractions.”
Dr. Myro Figura elaborated on TikTok, stating, “Peripheral nerves can continue functioning briefly after the central nervous system is gone. Sodium triggers these nerves, resulting in spasms.” He emphasized that this phenomenon only occurs in extremely fresh meat and is short-lived.
