Intrusion into privacy is the ultimate nightmare for many individuals. Predators and unwanted individuals are willing to do anything to satisfy their perverse desires.
And with all the available technology, it is inevitable that tracking and spying issues become public. Brooks Nader is a 25-year-old model who claims to have been tracked.
This model, dressed in a Sports Illustrated swimsuit, spoke about her experience with Apple’s AirTag tracking device.
Nader had just left a Tribeca bar when she received a notification on her phone stating, ‘Someone is following you.’ She received a similar notification.
‘I didn’t know this existed until it happened to me. I want to raise awareness among women and advise them to watch their belongings and pay attention to notifications,’ she continued.
According to Ms. Nader, someone placed a tracker in her coat while she wasn’t looking. She reported the incident to the police.
An Apple spokesperson responded to Ms. Nader’s story, stating, ‘We take your safety very seriously and care about the privacy and security of the AirTag.’
According to Apple, the device is designed with several proactive functions. These functions are intended to put an end to unwanted surveillance. According to the company, this is a first in the industry.
Two functions warn the user if an invisible AirTag is in their possession. In theory, this should act as a deterrent to crime.
AirTags are designed to attach to frequently lost items. Keys, wallets, and other small important objects can be attached to these AirTags for easy retrieval.
And Nader is not the only one. Several other women have reported being tracked in the same manner.
One of them realized her AirTags were tracking her while she was shopping. Another said her iPhone alerted her to the presence of an unknown accessory just after leaving the gym after a workout last year.
‘This “device” was following me everywhere for five hours and did not belong to any member of my “network.” It wasn’t a mobile phone or a tablet, but an “object,”‘ explained Ms. Nader.
She then shared a screenshot of the AirTag on an Instagram story. ‘@Apple, have you considered the potentially life-threatening dangers and consequences of this device?’
‘This isn’t my AirTag, it belongs to a stranger who must have slipped it into my belongings while I was away. Thank you for checking and sending me something useful. This serves as a warning to all women to check their belongings.’
This is not a pleasant experience, regardless of age or gender.
Let’s hope Apple takes this issue seriously. Fathers, check your daughter’s belongings and even her car if she has this tag. The world is crazy.”
