Johnny and Alister are a fairytale couple. Their story began in childhood, they grew up together, fell in love and recently got engaged.
Alister decided to propose to Johnny in their hometown in New Zealand, and it was important to him that it was a special moment.
He wanted to get the blessing of the one person who meant the world to Johnny – his mother, Luna.
In 2018, Luna received a scary diagnosis – stage IV ovarian cancer.
Despite the heavy treatments and surgeries, she always said that she wanted to stay alive to see Johnny and Alister’s wedding, to see them happy.
This is why the young couple, towards the end of the wedding party, decided to forgo the tradition in the Philippines where guests give money to the newlyweds.
Instead, they invited anyone who wanted to donate, promising to give the money raised to organizations fighting cancer.
And to honor Luna’s memory, the lovers made an even bolder gesture: they decided to donate their hair! In the middle of the ceremony, Johnny and Alister grabbed clippers and shaved each other’s heads.
