Today, we want to tell you about a girl who wasn’t broken by the hardships of life, but instead – all the trials along the way led to a happy life.
Philippine Maricel Apatan is only 30 years old, but she’s already a model of how a person on the way to their dream faces serious problems.
She works as a cook. The girl can easily cut even the smallest fruits, like strawberries and grapes; she knows how to create various cream decorations and produces true works of pastry art.
It would seem nothing is unusual if she had hands, but this girl manages skillfully.
Marisel is a renowned chef working in a 5-star hotel, creating incredible desserts. And 20 years ago, a terrible incident occurred that changed her life.

When she was 10 years old, she went to fetch water with her uncle, and on the way back, they were attacked by bandits.
The girl’s relative was killed, and her neck and hands were cut off. Marisel pretended to be dead, and it saved her life.
The girl was taken to the hospital half-dead, she lost a lot of blood, and it was no longer possible to save her hands.
So, she had to relearn how to do everyday things and be able to manage without external help in everyday life.
When Marisel returned to school, new challenges began; cruel children constantly teased and offended her. But that didn’t break the girl’s spirit; she successfully graduated and went on to study.

She graduated from Lourdes College in 2008 with a degree in hotel and restaurant management. Maricel got married and had a daughter.
Her husband assists her in the family business, besides running the restaurant, the family prepares custom cakes.
“I’ve been passionate about cooking since the age of seven,” says Marisel.
She was a very responsible student, even though she was the only disabled one in the class.
But most importantly, the girl didn’t seek sympathy; on the contrary, she participated in cake decorating contests on an equal footing with others. Look at how skillfully Chef Apatan handles the watermelon!
