“Every now and then, we encounter gestures or actions that warm the heart.
It could be the story of someone going above and beyond to facilitate a significant philanthropic act, or it might simply be someone doing good without expecting anything in return.
The happiness stemming from such gestures is an authentic and encouraging feeling.
It is important to recognize and appreciate those who sincerely work to make the world a better place.
One touching story involves Shane McDaniel and his twins, Henry and Harrison.
Shane, having spent a lot of time as a child cutting wood with his father, wanted to continue this tradition with his 21-year-old twins.
After a massive storm in Lake Stevens, Washington, the family found themselves with a significant amount of storm-damaged wood and fallen trees.
“I had a lot of wood to cut due to storm damage and fallen trees,” Shane explained.
“It kept piling up. We decided that since there was so much wood available, we could build something bigger with it.”
The trio devised a plan not only to clear the wood but also to benefit others. “The Pacific Northwest is quite wild; it’s cold and damp,” McDaniel told People Magazine.
“The need became apparent as soon as I started, and my eyes opened up.
We literally started giving it away because so many people were stopping and asking to buy it.”
Shane, Henry, and Harrison cut enough wood to fill 80 trucks over the course of the project, which lasted from March to October 2018.
Shane posted an appeal on Facebook. Yes, they had more wood than they could handle. Not surprisingly, Shane’s post garnered a lot of attention.
The family’s generosity amazed most people, and some even volunteered to help transport the wood to those who couldn’t do it themselves.
“It’s quite an amazing sight,” Shane said.
“You can see this sense of pride and sharing that, I believe, they didn’t have before.” “When you do good things for people, they remember.” “I like helping others.”
