Nicki Minaj and Taylor Swift have had a rocky relationship in the past, with their feud in 2015 well-documented.
However, Nicki recently indirectly demonstrated that everything is still good between them by tweeting some of Taylor’s lyrics from her new single “Anti-Hero.”
Nicki referred to her fans as “barbz” in the tweet, indicating that she was addressing her loyal followers rather than Taylor.
Nevertheless, the fact that she quoted Taylor’s lyrics shows that she is paying attention to her fellow musician’s work and potentially showing her support for it.
Nicki’s first tweet contained a line from “Anti-Hero,” which read, “I shoulder not be left to my own vices.”
She then followed it up with another tweet referencing the chorus of the song, “It must be exhausting always rooting for the Anti-hero,” accompanied by two emojis, a face and a unicorn.
Although Nicki did not provide any additional information about the tweets, her fans responded quickly, with many referring to her as a “swiftie,” which is the nickname for Taylor’s fans.
Some fans even speculated that Nicki was hinting at a potential collaboration with Taylor.
This is a significant shift from their public feud in 2015 when Nicki felt her songs were snubbed for the Video of the Year category of the Video Music Awards, and Taylor took her comments personally.
It remains uncertain whether Nicki and Taylor have reconciled or if the tweets were merely a sign of mutual respect for each other’s work.
Nonetheless, it’s encouraging to see artists in the cutthroat music industry put aside their differences and support each other’s art. Perhaps a Nicki-Taylor collaboration may be on the horizon.
