The events of this story took place as early as November 17, 2012.
Mexican fisherman José Alvarenga, 36, paid $50 to a young man, Cordoba, 22, to take him in his boat to fish off the Mexican coast.
But, the men were caught in a storm and found themselves in the middle of the ocean. They had to eat fish and birds, drink turtle blood and even urine.

But Cordoba could not live through such deprivations and, having health problems, some time later lost his life.
According to José, to not be alone, he kept his friend’s body for six days, but then threw it into the mother.
The fisherman fought for his life with all his might. The man said that, during many months of drifting, he had to eat fish and birds, which he caught with his bare hands.

Jose Alvarenga spent 438 days in the ocean and did not suffer much. The distance covered by Alvarenga can reach 10,800 kilometers.
Its journey began on November 17, 2012 off the coast of Mexico, and ended on January 30, 2014 on one of the atolls of the Marshall Islands where it was discovered by the inhabitants of the islands.
Medical examinations showed that the body of the “traveler” had not suffered serious injuries.
After a short time, Alvarenga found himself healthy and happy. Most likely, José Alvarenga survived thanks to his optimism.
