On September 20, 2016, a police officer fatally shot Keith Lamont Scott, leading to peaceful protests and unrest in Charlotte, North Carolina. For two nights, police officers and citizens were injured.
Five-year-old Jaden expressed love during the violence and confusion upon hearing about the injured police officers.
Just like a first grader writing a touching thank you note to the police, Jaden decided to show some kindness to the Charlotte police officers. Her mother, Dianna, shared this story in a Facebook post:
“I want to share a story and bring light during difficult times in Charlotte, North Carolina. Our streets have become the scene of struggles due to protests, leading to destruction and violence.
My son heard the sound of helicopters and sirens all night, waking up crying. We decided to send him to school the next day to bring some normality during these difficult times for the city.
On the way, he learned about injured police officers on the radio and asked if we could have donuts and thank them for their service. »
