This August an elderly woman whose immense wardrobe can serve as an example of 20th century fashion history celebrates her 94th birthday.

Iris Barrel Apfel knows how to surprise and impress with her appearance. She doesn’t follow trends, she creates them herself.

Its eclectic style lies in an unusual combination of elite, budget and vintage elements. Iris became famous for her unusual taste, love of rare collectibles, as well as filming for advertising brands.

Going through life at her own pace, the former interior designer has become, as she says herself, “a 94-year-old cover girl”.

The most interesting thing is that the Apfels company was responsible for decorating the White House under the reign of several presidents.

Traveling around the world on numerous business trips, Apfel continued to replenish her wardrobe with the most unusual things.

Always going against the grain, she likes to combine inexpensive commissioned finds with designer items.

His style can be described in one word: fearless.

“I don’t care if I’m invited to a party or if I throw a party myself – the main thing is to dress for the party,” Apfel admits in the film.

She considers creating a style and choosing an outfit as a creative activity. “I like to improvise, as if I were playing jazz.

She began her rise to fame in 2005, when the Metropolitan Museum of Art held an exhibition of her massive wardrobe titled “Rare Bird.”

It was broadcast on all channels, and soon Apfel had already created his first clothes.
