My son came home from school with a strange thing in his hand.

🧐 “My 3-year-old child came home from an extracurricular event where kids could exchange earned tickets for ‘souvenirs’ from the so-called school store. 👇

Among other things, they picked something strange — a small rubber or silicone item, about the size of a fingertip. 🤔

It doesn’t light up, doesn’t erase, has the hardness of an old bouncy ball, but doesn’t bounce. My husband and I spent the whole evening guessing what it could be.

It looks semi-transparent, pale pink — like a toy from a dollhouse.

At first, we thought it might be a part of a building set, then maybe a cheap cap or attachment.

But it serves no purpose — it just… exists.

We decided to post a photo in the parents’ group chat — and that’s when things got interesting. One of the parents wrote: “That’s an eraser shaped like a light bulb from the 80s, just without the metal base.

It’s worth noting that they were terrible and didn’t erase anything.”

And indeed — the older generation remembers them. They were mass-produced in the late 80s and early 90s, sold in sets of 3–5, usually in bright neon colors.

They were considered ‘trendy stationery’, even though they didn’t actually perform their main function — erasing pencil.

They would just slide over the paper, leaving marks.

So, this little artifact from the past somehow made its way into a modern school store.

Maybe leftover stock or a nostalgic gift from someone. But definitely — an interesting reason to reminisce.”
