This specifically applies to shared trauma known as “social glue” when people feel closer.

So, it was the same historical event that brought these people together.

Walter Spier and Werner Reich did not know each other when they were sent to prison during the Holocaust.

They were only 10 numbers apart from each other and became very connected souls as all the men there would have the same fate.

It was very common to tattoo the prisoners by numbering them during such events.

They were arrested in 1943 by the Gestapo, and you perfectly can guess what future would await them.

Luckily, the US government managed to save hundreds of prisoners during those years.

And, those arrested men could hopefully survive.

During all those years in jail, they hoped for freedom, they had that optimism and believed that they would survive.

So, when Walter’s son learned about his best friend’s story the son had an idea to organize a meeting between Warner and his father.

The boy wished to reunite them after so many years through Sandi Bachom, who was a documentary journalist.
