Jeffrey Longo, a Florida resident in the United States, was walking around his hometown and saw a tiny animal curled up on the sidewalk. The creature, a little more than an index finger, which Jeffrey took in his arms, barely breathed.
At the same time, not a single adult animal was visible in the vicinity, so it was not clear – what kind of animal is this? But it was clear that without food and water, the baby would die.
Jeffrey took a picture of the tiny creature and posted it on the Internet. The answer came quickly: the guy picked up a flying squirrel cub.
He got the funny name Cookie.
Cookie spent the first three months of its life in Jeffrey’s chest pocket, and only then did it become bold, began to get out for that to start exploring the world around him.
Interestingly, at first, the guy’s two dogs were very indifferent to the new inhabitant of the house: they just sniffed him, and then started playing with the squirrel. He, for his part, was not at all afraid of them.
Cookie grew, matured, and gradually Jeffrey came to the conclusion that it was time to release it. But the veterinarians, whom he turned to about this, explained to him that it was not worth doing this: a squirrel, raised by a man, will not survive in the wild.
So the man kept her for himself.
