Pizzeria began to place photos of dogs from the shelter on the boxes. People got excited about this initiative

When you order a pizza, you expect to receive it in a familiar box, which you then throw away.

But an American pizzeria suggests to its customers something more with their pizza, while also helping an organization located in the area. Just Pizza & Wing Co. in New York, gives flyers with cute dog photos on pizza boxes.

And the best part: whoever takes home a pup from the shelter placed on a pizza box, will get a gift certificate worth $50 at the pizzeria!

Mary Allow, who owns a pizza chain, came up with the unique idea when she and her three children were volunteering for the Animal Welfare Society.

Mary contacted Kim Larousse, the society’s president, to think of ways to help more of the shelter’s animals find loving families.

“Kim texted me one evening saying, ‘Hey, what do you think about putting photos of dogs on pizza boxes?’” says Mary. “We all love animals very much here, so I got the company’s approval and instantly got to work.”

As Mary said, the pizzeria gets a lot more orders. Although the restaurant uses about 600-800 boxes per week, they have already shipped 500 boxes in a few days.
