In wildlife the closest relatives of humans are orangutans. These species are intelligent and also have human-like qualities.
Their understanding is higher than that of other smart animals. Orangutans are dangerous but sometimes they can show ”humanity.”
This compassionate orangutan reached out his hand to help a man come out from the mud.
The witness of this incident is Anil Prabhakar from Indonesia that started studying orangutans in 2019. He was concerned about their populations and the dangers they are threatened by – poaching, venomous snakes, etc.
So Prabhakar received a tour to visit the orangutan survival foundation. He wanted to meet orangutans, study them and of course, take some good pictures of them.
One day the man saw a ranger that got stuck in the mud while clearing the area of snakes in order to protect the orangutans.
Suddenly an ape near the man reached out his hand and offered help. Later the ranger explains why he didn’t accept the help.
First, he is a lifeguard for orangutans and he isn’t let to do more, then the animal’s strong grip might’ve done more wrong than good.
Still, the pictures that Prabhakar took, show that animals can have good intentions. Sometimes they are more compassionate than us.
The popular photo has made some people change their opinion on apes. Yes, they are wild and dangerous animals, yet they can want to save humans.
