The Palawan peacock-pheasant is a magical bird with a very unrepeatable appearance. It has blue and green feathers and white stripes on them.
The charming creature has black ”pants” and a long peacock reminding a tail. Its underlined eyes are catching too.
Interestingly, this whole beauty belongs to males. Unlike them, females are very ordinary, dull and gray-colored birds.
They come from Palawan, Philippes. These species are endemic to the place, and they are also endangered because of the people that hunt them. It’s unbelievable that these charming creatures can be eaten. It’s very mean and cruel.
These wonderful beings prefer dense vegetation. They live on the ground and eat different seeds, berries, nuts, worms, etc.
In the breeding season, males offer food to the females. If they accept the food, the male does a performance showing his whole beauty. And no matter that females seem to us not attractive at all.
The peacock-pheasants lay 2 eggs. They incubate them for 18-20 days.
Every time I am amazed at how rich and wonderful is nature! They seem to be from cartoons and tales.
Agree, that these are birds of very rare beauty!
