Most of the street dogs don’t have a place, a roof where they can lay their heads down. So they have to live under any kind of weather. They freeze, get hot, stay under rain and snow, storm and lightning.
However, some people have open hearts for these animals. Like in this story, in which a cop shared his umbrella with strays during a rainy day in Kolkata, India.
Recently, a picture of a policeman went viral for protecting 2 dogs from very heavy rain. The moment was pictured by a photographer Sayan Chakraborty. It was shared on the Kolkata Police’s official Facebook page. The pic got 10,000 shares.
After the story got fame, even fan art was dedicated to it.
The officer was in his duty when two stray pups walked to him for shelter. The momentary shelter somehow protected the puppies from the rain.
In regards to strays, there are 35-40 million dogs that live in the streets of India.
As it turned out, this September Kolkata has been experiencing the highest rainfall during the last 14 years.
