This week, social media has a new idol – 23-year-old Tatsafon Saiyi, a fighter in the coastal defense squad of the Thai Navy.
The young border guard became famous for risking his life at a critical moment and rescuing four cats from a sinking ship, although this is against the rules. They scattered photos of the heroic deed around the world.
A fire broke out on the decrepit trough and the crew abandoned it and fled in full force.
The border guards arrived to check for the threat of an oil spill. And suddenly they saw cats on the ship!
The ship had already burned out, but there was a risk of ignition of the spilled oil. In addition, the ship practically sank, before our eyes sank under the water.
The crew did not say anything about the abandoned cats, and rescuing them is not the responsibility of the Coast Guard. However, Tatsafon Saiy dismissed all doubts, put on a life jacket and threw himself into the water.
The count went on in seconds, the ship was about to go under water.
As Saiy later said, the cats turned out to be quick-witted. They did not scratch, did not interfere, firmly grabbed the vest with their paws while he swam back. They really wanted to be rescued! The tailed beasts were dried, fed and examined.
Fortunately, they were safe, only frightened. The cats were taken to the command post on the island of Ko Lipe, where they will be looked after until they are distributed.
Tatsafon Sai was reprimanded for risking his life without an order, and a reward for rescuing the kittens.
