Family rescued five fox cubs. One stayed in the family and was raised with dogs

Last year, in the spring, a farmer found five little fluffy cubs in his barn. At first, he thought it was a cat that abandoned its kittens.

Coming closer, the man realized that these were small, just born, chanterelles. They looked like they were about two days old, and their mother was not around.

The farmer’s daughter Gemma was worried about the cubs but did not touch them. The girl decided to wait and see if her mother would return the cubs.

A day later, nothing changed, the fox mom never showed up. The family decided to place the red-haired foundlings in a special shelter. There they would be fed and, when they would grow up, they would be released to their habitat.

However, it turned out quite differently.

Five days later, one fox opened his eyes and saw Gemma. The chanterelle mistook the girl for her mother and became very attached to her. In foxes and dogs, in the first days of life, a period of imprinting occurs – the cub remembers what he sees first.

Gemma could not resist the affection and love of the little redhead and took her to her. Now the girl and her boyfriend Dan are raising a pet. They called her Vixie and they are tinkering with her as with a beloved child.

The fox is not a wild animal; she is affectionate, calm and friendly.

The rest of the litter cubs are not used to humans. They were sent to an orphanage and then released into the wild.
