Meteorologists on Lake Baikal discovered a tiny seal thrown ashore. The baby was dying – he was exhausted and almost could not move. The animal was taken to the station and nursed. Meteorologists had a husky dog with them.
She immediately decided to take care of the unfortunate baby. Perhaps she decided that this was her puppy, so she was touchingly caring for the victim. She licked him, lay next to him so that he would not freeze.
From such care and affection, the seal began to recover quickly.
Scientists fed him pieces of fish. Since seals can only eat in water, the foundling was placed in a bath. While he ate, the dog did not leave him a step. Then the baby got out of the bath and crawled back to his adoptive mother.
During the day, the seal was placed on the stones to warm up, and during feeding, it was returned to the bath. The baby was given the name Umka.
When people decided to return the foundling to the lake, he swam only 500 meters and came back. Then he was pushed again so that he did return to his habitat.
When the seal swam away, the dog became a little sad, but then again returned to its duties – to guard the goats. With such protection, animals are not afraid of anything.
