According to one of the Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, the most devoted volunteers recently passed away.
He was suffering from 4th stage pancreatic cancer for almost a year, and unluckily humanity lost such a kind person.
He is known as “NICU grandpa”, due to his kind personality and devoted activity.
Likewise, he used to work at the hospital snuggling and warming premature newborns after his retirement.
As the grandpa said in 2017, it’s a very blessing and peaceful duty for him.
After being retired, the elderly man spent 14 full years cuddling infants at Scottish Rite.
He told me about his passion, and why it was so important for him to volunteer.
He had an enormous love for newborns since his youth.
David explained that when babies were born, they need warmth.
When he cuddled them, they felt comfortable, they heard his heartbeat, which made them peacefully sleep on his chest.
For him, it’s great happiness, when babies considered him as a family, and immediately stops crying when he cuddled them.
As the nurses of the Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta claimed, the grandpa had an especially peaceful feature to calming down the infants.
However, after a few weeks after his diagnosis, the legendary man passed away.
