Onatan Bauer, a US citizen, was walking with his 13-year-old daughter on the Assawoman Bay Bridge.
They witnessed the accident of five cars. A car had been thrown against the road barrier and remained suspended over the water.
The child in the seat had flown out of the car and fell into the water.
So the brave Onatan couldn’t stay indifferent and reacted as fast as possible.
As he told later, the young girl was on her back on the seat, and she was trying to fight, her body was covered in water.
Luckily her head was above the surface of the water, and she could keep herself and didn’t drown.
The man wanted to find a boat, but there was none in the surrounding neighborhood.
As a result, Onatan jumped off the bridge from a height of seven meters and started swimming toward the baby.
“Her mouth was open, her eyes half closed. I pressed the baby against my shoulder and stroked her back hard.
After a few seconds, the water came out of her mouth, then she started coughing, and then she took a deep breath,” Onatan said.
The man entrusted the little girl to two rescuers. The girl was taken to a medical center in Baltimore.
Luckily, after two days she was discharged, and now she is safe and sound with her family.
