It’s not a surprise that most of the animals are affectionate. The ability to take care of their babies is an instinct. Yet, this phenomenon sometimes goes beyond their species.
This is a kind of story that each time leaves us surprised and heart warmed. It’s a story about a caring cat who accepted to take care of the orphaned hedgehogs.
Unfortunately, these little ones lost their mother shortly after the birth. The caring zoo staff did everything to rescue the babies but bottle feeding didn’t work. The hedgehogs needed their mom. Soon they got weaker and weaker.
Eventually, they decided to present the babies to Musya – a very caring cat. Thankfully the cat adopted the hedgehog babies as if they were her own kittens.
“They didn’t eat on their own,” Alyona Asnovina, the zoo’s deputy director said.
It was good to know that Musya was still producing milk as she was nursing other kittens too.
Soon baby hedgehogs accepted the cat as their mom and started to be nursed.
