In the state of Minnesota (USA), a pregnant dog was caught in a forest during a snowstorm. She gave birth to puppies, but could not leave them to freeze in the forest alone.
The young mother dug a hole in the snow and hid there with her children. For three weeks the animal was expecting help, but did not even think about leaving its offspring.
The dog and its babies were rescued by caring citizens. They accidentally spotted the animals in a snow hole and took them to a dog shelter called Red Lake Rosie. Now both mom and puppies are doing well.
The mother dog was named Snowball. She quickly recovered. It was in the shelter that the veterinarians discovered that the puppies were already 3 weeks old, that is, they spent so much time together with their mother in the snow captivity.
